I promised myself I'd try to make a "normal" recipe instead of the ultra-healthy ones they always tease me about. And I did... for the most part.
I used the basic Toll House recipe doubled. I omitted one stick of butter, added some ground flax and applesauce. And for some extra staying power, half the flour was whole wheat.
My chocolates of choice were one Toll House and one Ghiradelli. Oh, and several tablespoons of raw cacao nibs for extra antioxidants. The cacao nibs added a bit of nuttiness and crunch to this delicious cookie.
The cookies were well-received. Delicious as they were, next time I'd make a some changes. I think less flour would make them perfect.
What is your favorite healthy cookie recipe? Do you healthify your baked goods recipes?

Those sound and look incredible!! I'm always my toughest critic when I bake too. I find something that I would change about nearly every recipe once it's all said and done :)
Awe how sweet (pun intended)!!!

These cookies look/sound great! I bet the dads in your life were quite happy to get them!
What a sweet thing to do for the dads :) The cookies look wonderful. I love cacao nibs!!! I haven't baked in a long time and am inspired by your cookies, specifically how yummy they look and the healthful ingredients. I'm not a dad, but could you spare a few? ;)
ohhh. a healthy cookie recipe?! and it sounds so good :)
Awww, that was sweet of you. I'm not much of a baker but whenever I make banana/carrot bread, I use yogurt instead of oil/butter.
Oooh those cookies look so yummy! I bet all the dads loved them :D
Those cookies look delish. I bet no one could even tell they had a few healthy bits sneaked in!
how did you get away with eliminating an entire stick of butter?? the applesauce? did you do a 1:1 ratio? thanks! (Can you tell I'm now jonesing for some healthy chocolate chip cookies? ;)
those cookies sound amazing!
Your cookies look great! I haven't actually found a healthy recipe I like yet!
What exactly is a carob? LOL
Wow! Those look great! I generally don't healthify my treats. If they're healthy already, that's a benefit. But I view treats as a treat - I can't eat perfectly all the time. I want to enjoy my indulgences. And great desserts make me less likely to overeat.
I get those "normal please" baking requests too! But, I always sneak in a lil nutritional twist as well. That dough looks awesome!
YUM!!
I love ANY baked goods. If I'm making it for myself I'll healthify it. If I'm making it for someone else I'll just follow the recipe. ;)
hmmm I should start doing the healthy cookies but for now I do not.
we limit the treats and when we have em? they are the full fat decadent kind :)
Yum! I love baking :) It's very relaxing. My fav thing to make is probably whole wheat banana bread with dark chocolate chips! Glad your dad liked your cookies :)
mmm the cacao nibs in there look like a fabulous addition!!
I like to health recipes up by sometimes veganizing them, by using variants of whole grain flours (whole wheat, whole wheat pastry, spelt, brown rice, etc.), by subbing yogurts or sour creams (fat free) for oil, etc. :)
I would love to have the full recipe for those cookies. I mean, really. Can one ever have too much flax?
The cookies sound great!
Mmm they sound tasty. I always feel the need to healthify cookies, so I prefer to just find recipes for healthier versions than attempt to make changes on my own (because they usually don't turn out that well if I try to change stuff on my own)... 101 cookbooks has an awesome healthier peanut butter cookie recipe!

Nice job healthifying! Looks good. :) I have fun experimenting with healthier baked treats, but if I'm baking for someone ELSE (aka Daddy), I usually go with tried and true traditional recipes. Daddy accepts no substitutions for Toll House!
What a wonderful gift! So thoughtful. And they look wonderful ; )
Those look and sound terrific!
I don't think I can choose just one favorite healthy recipe :-)
I love the photos of your cookies - especially the ones with the chocolate chips!
